Organizing the roles within the team
There are lots of different factors that have to come into place when trying to put on a successful live music event. We had to think about all of these things as a class. Things like: Marketing, Social media, Venue, Date, Time, Price, Acts and so many more. What we decided to do was to give out different roles within the team so that everybody had a job to concentrate on.
Who had what roles?
My job was - Find a good venue and book it / poster
Jasper - poster and
Ted -

Team Work in the planning process
We worked a lot as a team in the planning process. I think one of the best examples of this is when we all sat down once a week and talked about the progress we made in the week. We would then allocate goals for everyone to make sure they complete for next week so we could sit don and discus the next stage as a group.
How did we work as a team
On the day of the gig
One very good example of our teamwork was on the day of the gig when we were all pulling together as a team to set up the kit at the venue. There was a lot to be done and there wasn't much time to do it in so I think that our teamwork stood the test there.

In Lo1 - Learning about different rolls in the music industry
In lo1 when we were learning about different rolls in the music industry we had a lot of group discussions about it. We gathered evidence from one of these discussions in the form of posit notes on the wall.

Plan - Engage (do) - Evaluate
Deadlines for this project
As a team we have admitted that we left some of the planning a bit late. This meant that we were rushing to meet deadlines. The main deadline that we had was to complete everything in the planning process with at least one week to go before the gig. We did manage to meet this deadline thankfully. If you look at the the Gantt chart below you can clearly see pur deadlines from the four week period building up to the gig.
The team stayed organised using this: A Gantt Chart
Below is one of the things that we used to keep organised in the last 5 weeks before the gig. Because we had left a lot of things to the last minute this helped us make sure we didn't forget anything and that we met all the deadlines and put on a successful gig.

The things that i had to think about when choosing a venue -
The location -
When thinking about the location of the venue, I had to conciser who would be coming. The people who would be coming are mostly students from collage so we need to find a venue that is very excusable so that they don't have to travel very far to get there. This means that venues in Henley could work very well if we were doing on a collage day because all of the audience we are aiming for would be in Henley already for collage. Outer very good places for us to hold the gig would be in the towns surrounding Henley where all of the students live. One of the towns that sprung to mind was high wycombe.
--- Venues i looked at in High Wycombe
ScorpiosBenefits ----
- its right next to the train station so it is very easy to get to. - Its very near Wycombe town centre so people can get there easy - Its near the bus station so it is very easy to get to Bad things about the venue ---- - It dose not have a very big beer garden - It is very strict about under 18s being out before 11 o clock - The bar itself dose not have a very good repatriation The roundabout barBenefits ----

The size of the venue -
ScorpiosThis is a picture of the inside of Scorpios bar. As you can see it is quite a grimy dirty venue and i have decided that its not really the kind of venue that we would like to put on a charity event in because it dose not give of a good impression. I have also taken a personal disliking to this venue because it always smells funny and i don't like that.
The roundaboutThe round about has a capacity of about 200 people. The good thing about this venue is that the performance space only fills about 100 people. witch means from the performers point of view the venue looks very full and professional. http://fluxusfawcett.weebly.com/

The obvious choice - Venues in Henley
1 - The hot frog
The hot frog was one of the obvious choices to have the gig. Reason for this is that it is right by the collage and it is very easy to assess, both for the performers and for the collage students. As you can see below in my list of pros and cons there are a lot of cons as well as there being pros. The biggest con about this venue is that it dose not serve alcohol. this is a problem because people are a lot more lightly to want to go out to a place where you can have a drink and relax. And having a crowd who have had a drink would help the crowd get involved subconsciously. We have played a gig in here befoore and to be honest it was not great so iv decided that a smaller venue would be a lot better than this one.
Pros ---
The hot frog is about 50 meters away from collage, so its very assessable The hot frog is very big, with an estimated capacity of about 200 Toilets cons -- The hot frog is not a 'cool' place to have the gig No alcohol served on the premiss The venue is very big so hard to fill and look professional No PA system No beer garden |
The old bell
The old bell was another pub that was a very nice. I thought very hard about trying to book this pub and we went down as a class to talk about hosting our charity event there. It seemed like a very nice place to have it because there because it was very nice and small and it would be easy to fill up and make it look good.
There were some problems along the way with this venue that I found and that was that they did not have a licence to have live music with more than 2 members playing, this was a big problem because it meant that we would defiantly not be able to play there.

FINALLY
The Queen Victoria
The Queen Victoria is a great pub right by the town centre. This pub is a great choice i thin because i have seen live music there before and I have seen that it was very well received. The pub also has a bigger and better beer garden than any outer pub in Henley, not to mention the fact that it has a rather lovely pool table and a dart board. This pub is a very good size and i am confident that we can put on a good night of music there.
