strumming pattern idea
As you can see in the video above I have recorded a very simple strumming pattern idea. I want to develop on this idea by adding chords to the strumming pattern.
picking pattern idea
The video above is my picking pattern idea.
My compositional ideas:
Idea 1
The first idea I had was on an acoustic guitar. I wanted to make a nice gentile singer songwriter song. The idea began with with a little melody that I though was very catchy. I began by humming this melody and then I played it on the piano as you can see below.
Idea 2
As you can s my next idea was actually a idea on the guitar that followed a chord progression instead of a melody that I thought of in my head. If you watch the video below you will see that my idea consist of 4 chords - D E A and C#m. The reason that I really like this idea that I had is that the guitar style is inspired by Jhonny Marr. Jhonny Marr is my favourite guitarist so that's why I tried to write in his style.
I also really like this idea because the chords are uplifting. Especially the chord chance from D to E because it feels like it is going up and going somewhere.
The chord progression goes as follows:
A /// A ///D /// D/// A /// A /// D/// D / E/

My inspiration for idea 2 was johnny marr
Idea 3
My next idea was actually a chord sequence, instead of a picking pattern that follows a chord sequence or a melody that I made in my head. The chord sequence goes as follows:
Am F C
There are a lot of very famous songs and outer kinds of compositions that use thus chord sequence or the same chords in a different order so that tells me that the chords work well together and are good chords to compose using.

Expanding on my third idea
I have decided to expand on the chords idea i have. I have had a idea for some lyrics to go over the chords. I wrote them like a poem and I managed to find a melody that I like for them to go to the chords with. I have written the lyrics I wrote below: I like to think that i have a little self control, But when you look like you do, i'm hardly gona say no to you. Although its not true I like to think that I know better, that I see through But I get distracted by you Id like to say that I never ever put a foot wrong But when you look like you do, im hardly gona say no to you There's no excuse, its no use, i should know better but I never do But I get distracted by you |
Idea 4
My next idea was different to all of the outers. I wrote a verse in the form of a poem. I though that it would be a good idea writing the music to the lyrics instead of the lyrics to the music. The reason that though that this would be a good idea is because that would then mean that the song was put together in a different way meaning that the song will sound different outers i might write. I have written out the short poem below for you to read.
My peom
From the moment that she wakes up,
to the moment that she drifts of
She parades a saving face,
her true colours, they go to waist
You cant survive a lifetime
if its the only thing that's on you mind
and its the only thing that's been on mine
from the moment that she drifts of
to the moment that she wakes up
she dreams of someone else's taist
And she prepares a saving face

And she prepares a saving face
Idea 5
Idea 5 is basses around a simple chord progression that goes C G D. The idea has been inspired by Lego House by Ed Sheeran. I want to write a happy sounding song with fast flowing vocals.
Idea 6 - Remixing a song i wrote for my band
The song below is a song called Stay Here. I wrote this song for my band last year and it has been recorded to a very high quality. I have the vocal stems from the recording so i can make a remix.
Who inspired me for my my remix?
The inspiration for my remix cam from a few different things. I have put in some links to the musicians that inspired this remix on the right hand side of this paragraph. One of the musicians that inspired me is called FLUME. The style of the remixes that he dose is called - CHILLSTEP. I was also inspired by some slow house music and i have done a similar drum beat to the house music in the remix and you will be able to her the high hat pattern is almost the same. |
